For my creative synthesis, I am going to discuss how to teach elementary students English as a foreign language.

From my 9 years teaching experience, I notice that students studying the English language grow more fluent and learn more about the culture and societal values of English speaking countries by providing good quality English programs. These courses have great potential to benefit students, both those studying in English speaking countries and elsewhere in the world. Learning English gives students a vital advantage in the modern, global economy, as English is generally the language of choice for international affairs. Whatever someone's reasons for learning English, learning Enlish better from an earyly age offers them a fantastic opportunity to obtain a important skill for working, living, and learning in today's world.

I will focus on phonics instruction, vocabulary instruction, comprehension, and interdisciplinary teaching in my creative synthesis.

Phonics is the most effective way of teaching young children to read. It is particularly helpful for children aged 5 to 7. Almost all children who receive good teaching of phonics will learn the skills they need to tackle new words. Children who have been taught phonics also tend to read more accurately than those taught using other methods, such as ‘look and say’.

With the development of students’ reading skills, it is important to help students think through the comprehension process. We can teach them reading comprehension strategies before, during and after reading. I am going to describe variety of ways to support students’ use of comprehension strategies.

In order to engaging students and helping them to develop knowledge, insights, multiple teachers across subjects could address the same content while focusing on facets of those relevant to their classes.

With the findings, we can help students to build their problem solving skills, self-confidence, self-efficacy, and a passion for learning. These are the common goals that educators bring to the classroom.
